LOCAL PHOTOGRAPHERS FEATURED ON NEW

RED MILL 2012 CALENDAR

Eight local photographers, participants in the Red Mill's 200th Anniversary Photography Contest, are featured in the 2012 Red Mill Calendar, which has just arrived in the Red Mill Gift Shop in time for Christmas. Many of the creative color shots, all of which were taken on or of the Museum grounds, were prize winners the Museum’s contest--and none are "run-of-the-Mill" photos!

Vivian Bedoya, of Somerset, has four pictures in the calendar (January, February, August and November); two were prize winners. Lindsey Reed of Lebanon, now a senior at Voorhees High School, has two shots featured (April and May). Other photographers are Jonathan Stettler of Milford (March); Patricia Berna of Clinton (June); George Labadie of Wayne (July); Catherine Ahart of Annandale (September); Pat Abbot of Washington (October); and Lycia Costa of Flemington (December).

All of the photographers were enthusiastic about participating in the calendar. "I am delighted that my images are in this project--and that the proceeds will benefit one of my favorite places in New Jersey," says Vivian Bedoya.

The amazingly high quality of the contest photographs motivated organizers to produce the first ever Red Mill Calendar. According to Board member Clay McEldowney, "We were thrilled that so many wonderful photographs were entered--it was hard to choose among them. We looked for the more creative shots--unusual details, interesting angles, arresting images." McEldowney, together with former Board member Melissa Mohlman, was instrumental in putting together the calendar. Main Street Communication of Clinton did the reproducing and printing.

"The photographs were so charming that we didn't stop there," says Mohlman. "We also made a limited number of note cards from five of the calendar's images." Vivian Bedoya contributed three photos, Lindsey Reed and George Labadie each have one photo in the sets of five note cards, which, with envelopes, are also on sale in the Red Mill Gift Shop. The calendars sell for $15 each; the note cards are $7.50 a pack.
